Dwars door Vlaanderen

Ventoso (24th) only Movistar Team finisher in rainy, cold Flemish classic, with incidents for all Dowsett, Herrada, Rojas and Visconti

Movistar Team started their run of Flemish classic with the 68th Dwars door Vlaanderen, over 199km between Roeselare and Waregem including thirteen climbs and nine cobbles sections. Crashes were the major protagonist from the Blue squad, with Jesús Herrada (twice), José Joaquín Rojas (three times), Alex Dowsett and Giovanni Visconti falling and seeing his chances of a good result ruined.

Spanish road champion Fran Ventoso was the telephone squad’s top finisher in 24th place, into a second bunch split by hectic pace in the finale, with a 10-rider group coming to the finish together with Oscar Gatto (VIN) as winner. The E3 Prijs Harelbeke (Friday) and Gent-Wevelgem (Sunday) will be the last stops for the squad directed by Chente García Acosta.
