Another breakaway for Teruel

Eneco Tour (st. 3)

Spaniard from Movistar Team adds another 100k to its escape account of 2013. Boom (BEL) profits from late split to win stage; Rojas takes 10th

The 2013 Eneco Tour moved northbound to the Netherlands, with an 187km stage from Oosterhout to Brouwersdam whose main difficulty was the coastal crosswind. The chance of echelons forming up did not avoid Eloy Teruel taking chances for yet another time in his offensive 2013 season -attempts in San Luis, the GP Nobili or the E3 Prijs Harelbeke- as he joined Domont (ALM), Wallays (TSV) and Rasmussen (GRS) for most of the stage, before getting caught with 60k remaining. The bunch would later split into two parts, with Rojas and Ventoso always paying attention at the front.

It would be the Murcian to score the best result from the Blues at the finish, ending up in 10th place as the peloton saw three units -Boom (BEL), Richeze (LAM) and day’s victor Zdenek Stybar (OPQ)- jumping into a technical section with 2k remaining. Thursday’s stage four -170km between Essen and Vlijmen, still on Dutch soil- should bring more calmness to the bunch in view of the 13km ITT in Sittard-Geleen on Friday.
