Tour du Limousin (st. 2)

Andrea Pasqualon (BAR) beats Spaniard from Movistar Team at Tour du Limousin's bunch sprint on stage 2, with Visconti in 7th place

Absent yesterday into the decisive split of stage one in the 2013 Tour du Limousin, the Movistar Team riders successfully bounced back on their hopes to shine in the French event as they came really close to victory on day two, another lumpy stage over 185km between Rochechouart and Ambazac. Spanish youngster Enrique Sanz took 2nd place behind Andrea Pasqualon (BAR) at the long finishing straight, a mass sprint as the day’s outcome as the two notable breaks across the route where chased down, with Frenchman Stéphane Rossetto (BIG), the last survivor, was caught with 3k remaining.

Today’s second place -the best result in 2013 for the man from Orkoien- puts Sanz on the verge of a second pro success after his stage victory in the 2011 Vuelta a Madrid. In turn, Giovanni Visconti proved again to be back on form in view of the Worlds with his 7th spot into the sprint, following a great lead-out from the Blues. Thursday should bring more interesting action in France, with 183km from Ussac to Chamboulive and the Côte des Costes (Cat-2) just 26k from the end.
