Lobato to bring Blues more speed

Signing

Cádiz-based rider, the most promising sprinter in the national peloton, to increase Movistar Team's sprinting power with his youth (24) and quality -already six wins in the pro scene-

The Movistar Team continues to reinforce its roster for next season and has ensured the services of one of the biggest up-and-coming prospects in the Spanish peloton. Andalusian Juanjo Lobato (Euskaltel-Euskadi) will make part of the telephone squad for the next three years, looking to confirm his sprinting abilities as one of the most promising talents in the WorldTour. Born in Trebujena, Cádiz (24), Lobato spent his first season in cycling’s top tier in 2013 after two years in the defunct, continental squad Andalucía, following a brilliant amateur stage with top-ten in both the European and World championships under-23.

Lobato raised his arms victorious in all three pro seasons: winning the Circuito de Getxo, in 2011; notching up a stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake and two mass sprints in the Tour de Chile, in 2012; and again in Getxo plus a stage in the Vuelta a Castilla y León this year, arguably his best to date, with good results in Luxembourg, the Bayern-Rundfahrt, La Rioja, Romandy and, above all, in his debut Tour de France, where he wore the ‘maillot à pois’ and contested the sprints in the first week of racing. Lobato will get to know his future team-mates right from today, in the first team meeting the Blues will be holding in the outskirts of Pamplona.
