To the Top (11): Armadillo
22 November 2013

2013 Overview

Tenacity, courage and hard work are key values for the holder of the most beautiful TT technique in the bunch: Jonathan Castroviejo

Spanish ITT champion at last in 2013, his brilliant commitment to the team always becomes crucial. He made an amazing Tour de France, showing up in the mountains when few were expecting him to reach so far, and turning into a massive factor during the team’s two big exhibitions in that Grande Boucle: the one in Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the L’Alpe-d’Huez stage.

4th in the Critérium du Dauphiné, 5th at Tirreno-Adriatico or even 10th in the Tour’s long TT, the biggest moment of the Basque rider’s season was undoubtedly the National champs in Bembibre. After several years crashing against the wall of his nemesis, Luis León Sánchez, ‘Armadillo’ -or ‘Bichobola’, the other nickname given by his team-mates- offered a brilliant demonstration.
