Consistent debut in Trentino

Giro del Trentino (st. 1)

Movistar Team takes 4th place in opening team time trial in Arco as BMC crushes the opposition. Local hero Oss takes leader jersey, Blues rank 22 seconds behind

Featuring a block with only two pure timetriallists -Alex Dowsett and Adriano Malori-, the Movistar Team came up with another good performance in a TTT. The telephone squad clocked the fourth fastest time of the 13.4km opening ride in the 38th Giro del Trentino, over beautiful landscapes from Riva del Garda to Arco.

The commitment by those less used to such fight -small climbers like Visconti, Szmyd or Antón; only Dayer Quintana got dropped- increased the block’s compenetration and launched them into a good result, just seven seconds off the day’s podium by NetApp-Endura and Sky. BMC would swoosh past their opposition for the win and the leader’s jersey with local Daniel Oss.

The demanding mountains in this year’s Italian stagerace start tomorrow with San Giacomo di Brentonico’s summit finish (164km). En route to the Category-1 climb, two passages through Vigolo Vattaro (Cat-2) will take the riders into a short flat preceeding the 15k ascent from Mori, with 7% average gradient.
