Prelude to decisive weekend in Switzerland

Tour de Suisse (st. 6)

Ion Izagirre stays in 7th overall in Suisse before Worb ITT (25km) plus two mountain-top finishes on Saturday and Sunday. Rojas nets seventh spot in Delémont behind winner Trentin (OPQ)

Italian Matteo Trentin (OPQ) claimed stage six -193km from Büren to Delémont- in a Tour de Suisse offering terrain for fastmen for a fourth consecutive day before the three stages that will decide the overall outcome: tomorrow 25km individual time trial -including two slopes, the first one long and hard- in Worb, plus two mountainous days in Verbier (Saturday) and Saas-Fee (Sunday). The GC is still tight in its top places, with Tony Martin (OPQ) in yellow as Ion Izagirre keeps his 7th place, just 27″ back.

Moreno, Capecchi, Plaza and José Joaquín Rojas made part with the Basque of the selected group until the final climb, Le Rond-Pré (Cat-3), with SKY and IAM successively setting the pace into a chain of climbs that included the Col des Rangiers (Cat-2). An attack by Sagan (CAN) did not find permission from his rivals, and it was an ill-timed split in the peloton with 1km remaining -with six man up-front, as Rojas struggled right behind- which decided the day’s result involuntarily. The Spaniard from the Movistar Team overcame to take 7th at the line.
