Paris-Nice (st. 2)

José Joaquín Rojas takes on another overcoming sprint in Saint-Amand-Montrond, finishes 5th as André Greipel (LTS) comes victorious

The second road stage of the 2015 Paris-Nice -172km between Saint-Aignan and Saint-Amand-Montrond- was a carbon copy of the first one: calm, even monotonous pace in the opening phase; calmness and good position by the Movistar Team into the bunch; and a bunch sprint that was this time anticipated by a strong, dangerous attack. Martin (EQS), Thomas (SKY), Boom (AST) and Breschel (TCS) were the ones challenging the field until caught with 1.5km remaining.

José Joaquín Rojas had a bit more freedom to progress into the bunch in a long, easy final straight, yet found more difficulties to keep his line into the decisive rush. The Spaniard still improved Monday's result by one place (5th) as André Greipel (LTS) took a win the Cieza-based rider will keep on searching tomorrow on a bit lumpier course, 179km to Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule.
