Vuelta a Burgos (final stage)

Anacona -6th after attack into final climb-, Herrada, Fernández all finish into overall top-ten as Taaramäe (AST) wins Vuelta a Burgos after final drama

Estonian Rein Taaramäe is the winner of the 37th Vuelta a Burgos after the Queen stage -170km with seven rated ascents, five of them chained towards the HC Lagunas de Neila climb- was always controlled by his team-mates from Astana, yet put into pressure by the Chente García Acosta-led Movistar Team.

A 12-man breakaway featuring Javi Moreno, which reached a maximum gap of three and a half minutes before splitting into the Category-1 Pasil de Rozavientos, plus attacks from both Marc Soler, before the summit of the Alto del Collado (Cat-2), and Winner Anacona, already into Neila, tried to break order into the main field, which Dani Moreno (KAT) anticipated with a well-timed acceleration into the final 500 meters to take the day's honours.

While Jesús Herrada and Rubén Fernández struggled to keep the pace into the final 3km and finished respectively 9th and 10th -eighth and ninth overall, respectively-, Anacona kept pushing courageously into the favourites' group and only lost wheel after El Portón, into the steepest part of the col, eventually ending up leading out former leader Miguel Ángel López (AST) to take 6th in both the stage -33" behind Moreno- and the GC -56” after Taaramäe.-
