Volta a Catalunya (preview)

Quintana leads Movistar Team in Catalunya; two mountain-top finishes will see the Colombian seeking to improve his results from2013 (stage win; 4th, GC) and 2014 (5th place overall)

Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team) will make his European debut in this 2016 season on Monday at the Volta a Catalunya, first of three stageraces –Vuelta al País Vasco (April 4-9), Tour de Romandie (April 26-May 1)– which the Colombian, podium finisher (3rd) in the Tour de San Luis and fourth-placed in last February's Colombian road race championships, will tackle during this spring.

At the seven-day Catalan event –no TTs in its route, mountain finishes in La Molina (Wednesday 23) and Port Ainé (Thursday 24) set to decide the final outcome–, Nairo will be joined by fellow countrymen Winner Anacona and Dayer Quintana. The eight-man group is completed by Javi Moreno, Rubén Fernández, Imanol Erviti, José Herrada and local rider Marc Soler, with José Luis Arrieta and José Luis Laguía as sports directors.
