Movistar Team lands in Adelaide
10 January 2017

Opening week

Squad directed by José Luis Arrieta reaches South Australia early on Monday (European morning), will combat jet-lag during the upcoming week before the official start to their 2017 schedule

The last of three flights from Saturday evening came to an end for the twelve Movistar Team members present in the 19th Tour Down Under around 8.30am Euro time this Monday. A much shorter team than in other WorldTour races, riders Gorka Izagirre, Marc Soler, Jasha Sütterlin, Carlos Barbero, José & Jesús Herrada and Víctor de la Parte will be supported by José Luis Arrieta (sports director), Fermín Gómez, Senen Pintado (mechanics), Gary Baños and Fernando Gómez (carers).

The quiet schedule for the Blues' next week includes not-so-demanding training rides along the coast, as well as key recce's of the most important stages in the Tour Down Under, spanning from Tuesday 17 to Sunday 22. Before that, the Spanish outfit will take to the teams' presentation (Saturday 14) and start competing at the People's Choice Classic (Sunday 15), whose 50km, 22-lap, twilight course (morning in Europe) will take the peloton southbound through Wakefield Road, instead of the traditional Rymill Park finish from the last few years.
