Most winning rider in the early 2017 season leads strong Movistar Team at WorldTour race in the Alps (June 4th-11th), less than a month before the start of the 'Grande Boucle'

As well as the inaugural event of the Hammer Series in Limburg (Friday 2nd – Sunday, June 4th), with Marc Soler, Carlos Barbero and Alex Dowsett leading the Movistar Team, the recent winner of the Giro d'Italia's team classification and second-place individual finisher with Nairo Quintana will be back to WorldTour racing as the 69th Critérium du Dauphiné takes place from Sunday 4th to 11th.

The Alpine event's 2017 edition features a 23.5km ITT in Bourgoin-Jallieu (Wednesday 7th), almost the same distance of next July's decisive Marseille time trial in the Tour de France, plus three mountain stages in the weekend: the Mont du Chat (HC) will be climbed on Friday 9th; the Alpe d'Huez, through its Sarenne road, will be tackled on Saturday 10th; and the Plateau de Solaison in Savoie will close things down.

Alejandro Valverde, the rider with most UCI victory still to this date in 2017 following his spectacular spring campaign, will be at the helm of a roster directed by Chente García Acosta and José Luis Laguía, completed by Ecuador's Richard Carapaz, German Jasha Sütterlin and five other Spaniards: Imanol Erviti, Jorge Arcas, Jesús Herrada, Dani Moreno and Rubén Fernández.
