Racing in the Basque Country from Tuesday

Movistar Team led by local hero Gorka Izagirre -three-time winner of the Prueba Villafranca- at longest-standing race in Spanish calendar (94 editions) on Tuesday

Two days after the 2017 Tour de France comes to its end in Paris, the Movistar Team will be back racing at the 94th Prueba Villafranca – Ordiziako Klasika (Tuesday, July 25th), the Spanish UCI race with most editions and the start to a very intense two weeks of racing in the country prior to La Vuelta, with the Clásica de San Sebastián (Saturday 29th), the Circuito de Getxo (Monday 31st) and the Vuelta a Burgos (1st-5th August).

Gorka Izagirre, born just next to the finishing town in Ormaiztegi and a three-time winner of the event (2010, 2012, 2014), will lead the José Luis Jaimerena-directed squad, joined by Víctor de la Parte, Jorge Arcas, José Herrada, Rory Sutherland, Héctor Carretero, Antonio Pedrero and Carlos Barbero. The Blues will be tackling the traditional 165.7km loop around Ordizia, with five climbs to Abaltzkisketa (the final one crested just 11km from the end) and two additional ascents of Altzo into the final laps.
