Tre Valli Varesine

Nairo Quintana and Movistar Team start their last three Italian races this season at Tuesday's 97th Tre Valli Varesine.

Frenchman Alexandre Geniez (FDJ) took the day’s honours at the Tre Valli Varesine (193km), whose 97th edition was full of attacks into the final five laps of the Via Montello circuit.

Dayer and Nairo Quintana were, together with Jesús Herrada, the Blues staying the longest into a bunch which, despite getting gradually selected by the insistent pace, was able to bring back all major moves and start together the last 2km uphill to the Piazza della Libertà, where eventual winner Geniez, second-placed Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) and Vincenzo Nibali (TBM, 3rd) left to contest the podium places.
