Five-day Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana to test Movistar Team's cohesion, its demanding route including two mountain stages and a 30km TTT.
Following its European debut in the Challenge Mallorca, Movistar Team will tackle the 69th edition of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana from Wednesday through Sunday. The Spanish, UCI 2.1 race will feature two mountain stages on Thursday and most notably Saturday -finishing atop the Cat-1 Alto de las Canteras in Cocentaina-, a 23km team time trial to Calpe on Friday and two stages for sprinters to open and close the race.
For this event in eastern Spain, the Movistar Team will bring a balanced roster led by Alejandro Valverde, who will be making his stagerace debut -following his three race days in the Challenge- after crashing out early in the 2017 TDF. The 37-year-old from Murcia will be joined by Jorge Arcas, Nuno Bico, Héctor Carretero, José Joaquín Rojas, Jaime Rosón and Jasha Sütterlin.
