Event in Madrid
Ecuadorian climber and Blue roster offer a Maglia Rosa at Madrid’s Distrito Telefónica headquarters to CEO José María Álvarez-Pallete, share their joy with Telefónica’s employees and the Spanish media.
Landed shortly after noon on Monday at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport from Bergame, following the on-site celebrations in Verona for their victory in the 2019 Giro d’Italia, Richard Carapaz and a broad delegation from the Movistar Team headed towards Distrito Telefónica, the central headquarters of the company in north Madrid, to offer their victory to their main sponsor’s employees and share their joy with the media.
Carapaz, joined by four of the Blues who supported him towards victory –Mikel Landa (4th overall), Héctor Carretero, Lluís Mas and Andrey Amador– plus the Movistar Team’s general manager, Eusebio Unzué, offered a Maglia Rosa to the CEO of Telefónica, José María Álvarez-Pallete, and a second leader’s jersey which is now displayed at the Museum of Sports in the Central Building of Distrito Telefónica.
Richard will stay in Spain this week before travelling back to Ecuador, where he will celebrate – into a scheduled still be determined – his Giro success with his home country before taking a well-deserved rest and getting prepared for the second half of his 2019 season.
