Second signing for next season

The ‘Lion of Zierbena’ from the Basque Country, Spanish U23 champion in 2018 + winner of the prestigious Memorial Valenciaga in 2019, takes the leap towards WorldTour racing with the Blues in 2020 as he signs a three-year contract.

The Movistar Team confirmed Wednesday that Iñigo Elosegui (Zierbena, Vizcaya; 1998), a Spanish rider from the development team Lizarte, will race with its Blue jersey as of next January and through the end of the 2022 season. Elosegui’s signing means the Eusebio Unzué will enjoy in its ranks the most talented, polyvalent talent from its home amateur peloton in the last few years.

The Spanish U23 road race champion in Castellón, in 2018, after a 60km break, as well as winner of the 2019 Memorial Valenciaga, the most prestigious race in the amateur scene, the Basque hopes to continue his solid, dazzling progression as a pro after brilliant exploits in his youth stage.

A perfect mix of skills for the flat, mountain and TT courses have earned this intelligent, team-committed rider already numerous chances to race in the international peloton. Top-20 overall finisher in the 2019 U23 Giro, he’s been a member of the Spanish national team at World -Doha, 2016, junior- and European Championships, Mediterranean Games and several UCI Nations Cup events.
