Blues add 27 Grand Tour appearances to its roster with Dario (34 years old), winner of a stage in the 2019 Giro, and Davide (28).
The Movistar Team confirmed Wednesday that Dario Cataldo (Lanciano, Abruzzo, ITA; 1985) and Davide Villella (Magenta, Lombardía, ITA; 1991), both currently riding for the Astana Pro Team, have signed two-year contracts -through the end of the 2021 season- with the squad managed by Eusebio Unzué.
The Telefónica-backed squad snatches two talented riders for its WorldTour calendar, solid allrounders who combine for an impressive 27 career appearances in the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a España.
Villella, who has shone at breakaways when his team duties have allowed him so -he came close (4th) to a stage win in the 2018 Vuelta a España; came victorious at the 2018 Tour of Almaty and the 2016 Japan Cup-, will continue to ride alongside fellow countryman Cataldo, a great individual talent with victories to his name in the Giro -stage 15, 2019, Como- and the Vuelta (Cuitu Negru, 2012), as well as top-ten overall results in Pologne, Austria, Beijing + Tour of the Alps and 12th and 14th-place GC finishes in the Corsa Rosa.
