Movistar Team granted WorldTour licenses for men’s and women’s teams

Confirmation by the Licence Commission

Telefónica-backed squad becomes one of five organisations in the world to have both of its squads in the sport's top tier.

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) made official on Tuesday the Movistar Team’s presence in the two lists of men’s and women’s teams part of the top category in cycling: the WorldTour.

The Licence Comission awarded the Blues the expected lengths for both squads, as part of a new cycle of licenses starting in 2020. While the men will see their WT membership secured for another three years, through the end of 2022, the women, whose top category is established next year, will enjoy that condition at least through the end of 2023.

The awards make Abarca Sports become one of -currently- only five organisations in the world to have both its women’s and men’s team into the top category in cycling, together with Sunweb, Trek-Segafredo, CCC and FDJ. Those structures will be joined, as its license is confirmed in the next few days, by Mitchelton-Scott.
