Fifth men's signing for next year

Italian climber (30), a decade of WorldTour experience on his shoulders, ready to support Blues with his talent: signs 2026 contract.

The Movistar Team is adding value to its climbing group next year with Thursday’s announcement of Davide Formolo‘s (Negrar, ITA; 1992) signing. The Italian, currently a rider for UAE Team Emirates, has signed a three-year contract, through the end of 2026.

With Formolo, the Telefónica-backed squad gains ten years of WorldTour experience and trusts the talents of a 13-time winner in the pro peloton. Davide’s palmarès includes a stage in the Giro d’Italia (2015), a national road race championship (2019), victories in the Dauphiné (2020) and the Volta a Catalunya (2019), a podium in Liège-Bastogne-Liège (2019) and 14 appearances in Grand Tours, including two top-ten GC finishes (2017, 2018) in his beloved Giro (eight caps) and a 9th spot in La Vuelta (2016).

REACTION:

Davide Formolo:I think a squad like the Movistar Team is the ideal place for me to show the kind of rider that I am. I think I can play an important role supporting the team leaders in the Grand Tours, as well as seeking for individual results in one-day races or wherever the team requires me to. I’m so excited to start working with everyone.”
