20 December 2023

Last signing for next year

Italian, the current U23 World Time Trial champion, inks three-year deal as 30th, and final, Blues member for next season

The Movistar Team is pleased to announce Wednesday that Lorenzo Milesi (San Giovanni Bianco, ITA; 2002) will join its pro men’s program on January 1st. The Italian, a current member of Team dsm-firmenich, will be part of the Telefónica-backed squad until December 31st, 2026.

The Blue outfit thus secures the talent of one of the biggest prospects in the current WorldTour peloton. Winner of the U23 Time Trial at the 2023 World Championships in Glasgow as well as GC leader in La Vuelta, his first ever Grand Tour, in a magical month of August, the Lombardy native adds some climbing prowess to his infinite quality on the flat. He won the demanding last stage of the 2022 Tour de l’Avenir, and also shone in other big U23 events, such as the Giro della Valle d’Aosta or the Triptyque des Monts et Châteaux.

The Movistar Team rounds off with him a 30-rider men’s roster for 2024, with ten newcomers: Quintana, Formolo, Cavagna, Milesi, Sánchez, Romo, Canal, Barrenetxea, Moro and Cimolai.

QUOTES:

Lorenzo Milesi: “The Movistar Team is a world reference, and it’s a big opportunity for me to get to this team so I can further grow as a sportsman. It’s a step forward in my career, and I’m so happy we’ve come to this agreement. I like Grand Tours and one-week stageraces, so, even if the focus is going to remain at time trials, I also want to improve my climbing skills.”
