2024 LA VUELTA GUIDE | Info on the Movistar Team and the Spanish grandtour
It’s the last Grand Tour of the season, and one which the Movistar Team tackles with extra excitement. The Telefónica-backed squad will roll down the start ramp of the 79th La Vuelta with the aim to show the same character and fighting spirit from the Giro and Tour. The race will actually end visiting Telefónica’s main buildings: the start from the global HQ in Distrito, the finish next to the prestigious Gran Vía building.
To tackle the three-week Spanish grandtour, the squad managed by Chente García Acosta, Pablo Lastras, Xabier Muriel and Iván Velasco will line up with Enric Mas, a three-time GC podium finisher, and 2016 overall winner Nairo Quintana.
Alongside that duo will be the Movistar Team’s two main names from May –Pelayo Sánchez, stage winner in the Giro, and Einer Rubio, 7th overall-; two talented young riders, Oier Lazkano and Carlos Canal; and two luxury domestiques in Jorge Arcas and Nelson Oliveira -winner of an olympic diploma at the Paris ITT- who will start from his home country, with no less than another individual time trial, in Lisbon.
