Analysis

The oldest race (1876), albeit not the one held the most times -it will, though, reach its 100th edition in 2019-, in European pro cycling insists with the same formula which has boosted its relevance in recent years, tackling twice the difficult ascent to the Basilica di Superga in the final section of its 179km route.

The otherwise flat parcours of the ‘MiTo’ explodes with 24km from the end, as the riders tackle the first climb of a 5km ascent at more than 9% gradient. The first climb, though, is a bit shorter as the peloton takes a detour with 1km left to descend back to San Mauro and Torino, to start the decisive uphill section.
