Analysis

The Tour de Luxembourg will again be the men’s Movistar Team’s last European stagerace, with a formula identical to the one they experienced during their debut in 2023: plenty of hilly terrain, with an individual time trial -15.5km in Differdange, on Saturday 21st September- crucial yet not fully decisive this year.

One could argue that the most spicy stage has been saved for the end, due to the demanding, technical configuration of the final circuit in Limpertsberg (Sunday 22th), over more than 3,000m of elevation. That figure will also be overcome on Friday 20th, on the 201km stage three to Diekirch, arguably the Queen stage with its ‘saw teeth’ final profile. The two days most suited to a sprint finish will come first, at Fëschmaart (Wednesday 18th) and the Côte de Stafelter with 9k to go + stage two to Schifflange (Thursday 19th).
