Analysis

The month of October for the Movistar Team kicks off with a centennial, very much known Italian race, the Giro dell’Emilia, usually held around the climbs to the Basilica di San Luca in Bologna.

Its tough 2.2km ascent -at nearly 10% average is a brutal obstacle, even more so at this time of the season, also concentrated inside the final hour of a long race (207km), which saves all of its best for the end.

The approach won’t be flat at all, though, as the riders will have to climb their way through Mongardino (22km), the long Passo Brasimone (72km) and the short, yet steep, Valico Ganzole (126km) before getting back to Bologna.
