GP Beghelli
199.3 Kilometers
The schedule of the Gruppo Sportivo Emilia, one of the most renowned race organisers in Italy, will reach its end on Sunday 6th October with the 24th edition of the GP Beghelli, a mainly flat course around Monteveglio -in the Bologna province, quite close to the Giro dell’Emilia held a day prior- which nevertheless doesn’t take a sprint for granted, most of the bunch running on fumes at this time of the year.
After a short point-to-point section, the 199km race is decided with ten laps around the Zappolino hill. It’s a 1.6km ascent, with a 5% average gradient, crested eight kilometers before every passage through the finish. Its slopes offer a chance for the punchy climbers to leave the strongest teams behind and go for the win.
