Analysis

As years go by, the two Canadian races part of the UCI WorldTour calendar are getting a more distinctive character from each other, a better identification. With the GP Montréal being made harder with more laps of its circuit, the GP Québec has turned into an easier chance for fast classics riders and even some sprinters to win, while Sunday’s race becomes more of a climber’s course.

In Québec’s case, the circuit remains unchanged in both its total length and design: 16 laps of a 12.6km loop to cover just over 200 kilometers. There will be four climbs: La Montagne -the most demanding, with 375 meters at 10%-, La Potasse, 420m at 9%; la Fabrique, a short 200m slope at 7%; and the long finishing straight, the Grande Allée, 1km at 4% gradient.
