Vuelta a Asturias
469 Kilometers 3 Stages
The Vuelta a Asturias will be once again a ‘final rehearsal’ for the Movistar Team with many of the riders that will take the start of the Giro d’Italia a week after. Well established as a three-day stagerace for the last few years after struggling with the late 2000s’ economic crisis, this Spanish race full of decent mountains will repeat its 2018 main climbs -Carabanzo (stage 1), Acebo (st. 2) and El Violeo (st. 3)-, yet with no mountain-top finishes, which should help the race become even more open than before.
Five climbs towards Pola de Lena (Friday 3rd), with the two sides of Carabanzo -the toughest, 2km at 10%, just six kilometers from the end-; La Espina (Cat-2; 10km at 5%) before the Acebo (Cat-1; 9.2km at 8.2%) and the descent towards Cangas del Narcea (Saturday 4th); and the demanding side of the Naranco through the Violeo (Cat-2; 2.7km at 10.5%) will decide a race which exemplifies most of the best things this beautiful land can offer.
