Tour de l'Ardèche
831 Kilometers 7 Stages
After two years competing with its riders as part of the Spanish national team, the Movistar Team will be making in 2020 its debut in the Tour de l’Ardèche, one of the most demanding events in the entire women’s UCI calendar and a modest race, organised exclusively by volunteers, which has been able to remain in its September slot despite the pandemic.
The TCFIA, which will share roads with the Tour de France as the ‘Grande Boucle’ goes through the area on September 3rd, presents a more balanced route in its 18th edition. There will be several chances for the sprinters -the most feasible ones coming in Bourg-Saint-Andéol (Thursday 3rd) and Beauchastel (Wednesday 9th); the finishes in Avignon (Saturday 5th) and Ruoms (Monday 7th) feature climbs near the end- and the climbers won’t take center stage every single day, yet they will be the ones battling out for the final success.
Four climbs are included on the stage two route, Friday 4th: Limouches (HC), La Bataille (Cat-1), La Machine (Cat-1) and the finish at Font d’Urle after the Col de la Chau (Cat-2), in the toughest route of the week. Sunday 6th will include the most demanding finish, though, with the Mont Lozère (Cat-1) preceded by the Col de Tribes (Cat-2). Finally, as mountain showdown on Tuesday 8th, five categorized ascents, finishing up with Fontenelle (Cat-1) and a tough last slope in Rochemaure (Cat-2).
