Analysis

The race called Three Days of De Panne until not long ago has officially discarded that name for 2021, few years after turning into a one-day event and a WorldTour race, to take its new title sponsor, Oxyclean, as moniker. The charateristics of this race were also transformed by becoming a classic, with no cobblestones and the wind as defining factor, especially at an already famous area, De Moeren, where crosswinds always strike the peloton hard.

It was there in 2020 where the bunch was torn into pieces at this 204km, composed by an early, point-to-point section of about fifty kilometers from Bruges plus three-and–a-half laps of a 45km rectangular circuit, going through the towns of Veurne, Houtem, Bulskamp and the coastal finish in De Panne. Urban areas, with the danger of road furniture, are combined with long, unprotected straights where the biggest blocks and the rouleurs try to leave the sprinters behind.
