The international TV feed will start at 1330 CEST approx. Eurosport and GCN will offer it live.
It’s impossible to forget Alejandro Valverde’s five victories with colours atop Huy: 2006, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Those moments we never wanted to happen – well, they’re happening. It’s now time to enjoy and get emotional about the last Ardennes classics for Alejandro Valverde, those races he’s mastered, dominated for more than a decade. And we’re starting with Flèche Wallonne, which he conquered as many times as fingers are in a hand.
The 202km classic -not that usual for this classic to go over two hundred- comprises a quite hilly route on its first half -with two categorized climbs, including Forges, sometimes used in Liège- and a steep one in its final circuit, with 3x Ereffe (2.1km, 5%); Cherave (1.3km, 8.1%), last crested with less than 7km to go; and the Mur de Huy, 1.3km at 9.1% with maximum slopes of 19%.
