Tre Valli Varesine
196.5 Kilometers
The race expected to be the penultimate event of Alejandro Valverde’s illustrious career will be the Tre Valli Varesine, a historic race -no less than 101 editions- and the ‘final rehearsal’ for Il Lombardia on Saturday, over a course quite similar from the one used in the 2008 World Championships.
The 196km course features an initial, point-to-point sections and two loops around the finish in Varese. The first circuit will feature the climbs of Casbeno (2.5km at 5%) and Montello (2 km at 5.2%), tackled nine times each, before the last forty kilometers (two laps) see the peloton combining those two climbs with an additional two: Morosolo (1.6km at 8%) and Casciago (1.8km at 5%). The finish is placed 1km after the Casbeno ascent.
