Analysis

The so-called ‘euroregion‘ of Trentino, Alto Adige and Tyrol holds, just over two weeks before the start of the Giro d’Italia in Hungary, the perfect preparation event for most of the climbers who will then go on and line up at the ‘Corsa Rosa’. A series of short, yet steep stages offer the lightest riders in the bunch the chance to fight against each other and test their legs before taking on the beautiful month of May and the first Grand Tour of 2022.

The Passo Brocon (Cat-2) and a demanding slope in San Martino di Castrozza (Monday 18th) will open a race that will tackle two tough ascent on its second stage (Tuesday 19th): Rolle (Cat-2) and Mendola (Cat-1). The Passo Furcia (Cat-1) will be another stepping stone, just 23km away from the finish of stage three in Villabassa (Wednesday 20th), before entering Austria for two other difficult routes: a mountain-top finish in Kals am Grossglockner (Thursday 21st) and the tough Stronach (Cat-2) just before the last finish line in Lienz (Friday 22nd).
