Analysis

The Classic Brugge – De Panne opens for the Movistar Team (both men and women) a two-week tournée on Belgian soil prior to the Ronde van Vlaanderen. This event, however, is conceived as a sprinter’s playground, which only the wind – which is a major factor in this area, mind you- can avoid.

The 211km course notably includes three laps of a circuit next to the sea, through the cities of Koksijde, Oostduinkerke and Veurne, that features the De Moeren straight, completely exposed to the wind, where the strongest teams and the most skilled riders can try and prevent that ‘volata’.
