Analysis

The duo of mid-September races in Tuscany is rounded out by the 70th Coppa Sabatini, which is more of a classics riders-oriented event than the previous day’s Giro della Toscana, more suited to the climbers.

It isn’t, however, an easy race due to that, as it still includes 20 hills, divided into three sectors:

1) An initial, 38-kilometer, point-to-point section, featuring the ascent of Lajatico and the tough slope of Piazza del Popolo (700m at 11%);

2) A first circuit, with 24km and five laps, including the climbs of Montefoscoli (1100m, 8%) and Terricciola (1400m, 5% + 500m, 4%) plus the Piazza del Popolo’s;

3) And the final loop, 12km and three laps, around the finish in Via Mazzini (1400m, 5%), the only climb in this section.
