Tour de Suisse (st. 5)

Rui Costa, Movistar Team successfully defend leader jersey for one more day before Thursday, the last stage preceeding the showodnw weekend, with an ITT and two mountain stage

With the rain as main protagonist again the 76th Tour de Suisse, Rui Costa and Movistar Team retained the yellow jersey in the Helvetic race on Wednesday, as the Blue squad controlled things all day on stage five, a 193-kilometer race from Olten/Trimbach to Gansingen marked by a successful seven-man attempt crowned by Russian Vladimir Isaychev (KAT). The escape always had a gap close to ten minutes, and against the lack of interest from other squads to full, Movistar Team took charge of controlling the pace -none of the escapees threatened Costa’s lead- and save as much energy as possible in an otherwise hard day for the decisive part of the tour, which, after stage six on Thursday -198k from Wittnau to Bischofszell with four out of five climbs on the day located at the last third of the route-, will start sorting out the GC with an ITT on Friday and two high mountain stages in the weekend.
