Tour of Beijing (st. 2)

Herrada (18th), Sanz unable to contest second consecutive sprint in China -with Bouhanni (FDJ) as the day's winner-; decisive stages coming on Sunday and Monday

No troubles for the Movistar Team riders during the 201km stage two of the Tour of Beijing, with four small climbs between Huairou and Yanqing which didn’t avoid another mass sprint being contested as Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni (FDJ) took the win and over the leader’s jersey. Absent from the day’s breakaway, the telephone squad’s members focused on saving energy for the two important mountain tests on Sunday -with no less than seven rated ascents en route to Qiandiajian- and Monday, when the Great Wall will be reached on a hill-top finish.

After a notable 6th spot yesterday, Enrique Sanz had problems to follow the wheels of Alex Dowsett and Jesús Herrada, his two helpers for today’s leadout, and was left out of contention as the Spanish road champion took the Blues’ best result in 18th place. The likes of Intxausti, Amador, Costa or Visconti will be replacing them at the fore from tomorrow.
