Tour de Pologne (st. 2)

Izagirre -with several blows, especially in his knee-, Lobato -suffering pain in his tibia- and Ventoso -almost unscathed- all affected by huge crash, leaving only eight riders to sprint for win in Dabrowa Górnicza

A 164km ride from Czesztochowa to Dabrowa Górnicza on stage two of the 72th Tour de Pologne (UCI WorldTour), seemingly calm for Ion Izagirre and the Movistar Team despite usual stress in flat, fast finishes, turned chaotic into the last 200 metres. An incident by Caleb Ewan (OGE) made him lose balance and caused a chain reaction which avoided the whole bunch, except for eight riders, sprinting for the win.

The event made three of the José Luis Jaimerena-led squad's riders fall down: Izagirre himself, Fran Ventoso -practically unhurt- and Juanjo Lobato. Riding through the center of the road, the Basque allrounder jumped over his bike and suffered several blows -one of those more intense in his knee-, while the Andalusian, on the left-hand side, crashed against the barriers and hit his tibia. Recovery for both overnight will be key for his injuries' evolution before another expectedly easy stage on day three, over 166km finishing at Katowice.
