Prolific Friday for Spanish outfit

Mavi García leads Blues' podium sweep in Vall d'Alba (Castellón), alongside Merino and González, as Alba Teruel wins under-23 competition; Jasinska claims champion bands in Ostroda, increases Telefónica-backed squad's account to 10 in 2018.

The Movistar Team completed an outstanding performance on Friday’s National TT Championships for women in Spain and Poland, its riders increasing the Blues’ victory account in their first year of existence to two figures since their debut in February.

At the demanding Spanish course in Vall d’Alba, Castellón (19.5km), Mavi García led a podium sweep of the squad directed by Jorge Sanz. The allrounder from Mallorca, back to racing after two months following her collarbone fracture in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, won by 17” over Eider Merino (silver) and 44″ on Alicia González (bronze). Gloria Rodríguez (4th) and Lourdes Oyarbide -5th, only four days after green light from doctors in Pamplona- rounded off a sensational display completed by Alba Teruel’s champion jersey in the under-23 category, 8th from all participants.

In turn, Malgorzata Jasinska shone bright at the 22km ITT of the Polish championship in Ostroda. ‘Jasi’ bested Kasia Pawlowska (Virtu) by 21″, with Wilkos (MAT Atom) in third place at 36″. The Barczewo native thus extended a splendid form streak exhibited during the classics and the recent stageraces Emakumeen Euskal Bira and Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour.
