Blue ladies make their 2019 debut

Telefónica-backed squad to race at first-ever Vuelta CV Féminas (Sunday 10th) before getting together in Calpe the next week, to prepare their second season in the UCI Women's WorldTour.

Following a long wait for the whole Movistar Team women’s roster directed by Sebastián Unzué and Jorge Sanz, the Blue ladies’ second season in the peloton will finally start this weekend in eastern Spain. Six members from the Telefónica-backed squad will be racing at Sunday’s 1st Vuelta CV Féminas, over an 88km flat course from Paterna to Valencia’s famous city council square.

Roxane Fournier and Sheyla Gutiérrez are set to debut with their new Blue colours, into a six-woman lineup which also features Lourdes Oyarbide, Gloria Rodríguez, Alicia González and local youngster Alba Teruel.

After that first race, the whole, 12-member group -including Aude Biannic, Malgorzata Jasinska, Lorena Llamas, Mavi García, Eider Merino and another addition in Colombian Paula Patiño– will head south to Calpe, Alicante, for a seven-day training camp (Monday 11 – Sunday 17th) also used for equipment testing, organisational meetings and sponsor duties.

After the training camp ends, the riders selected for the Movistar Team’s first stagerace of 2019, the Setmana Valenciana (Thursday 21st – Sunday 24th), will be staying together to inspect the four-day event’s routes.
