Announcement

World Champion from Movistar Team back to racing at 'Classicissima' alongside Basque climber, who returns after two-month recovery break from his Mallorca injury.

The first Monument of the 2019 spring campaign brings an exciting double announcement from the Movistar Team. The 110th edition of Milano-Sanremo will see two leaders from Eusebio Unzué’s squad taking its start: Alejandro Valverde and Mikel Landa.

The World Champion will be putting a backnumber on three weeks after his last competition to date, the UAE Tour, where he took runner-up overall and claimed his maiden victory in the rainbow jersey atop Jebel Hafeet. The ‘Classicissima’ will also mark the start of a busy month of racing for the marvel from Murcia, including next week’s Volta a Catalunya.

In Landa‘s case, his return will in practice become his 2019 debut, the end of a 53-day recovery after a collarbone fracture in the opening trophy of the Challenge Mallorca. The full lineup, with Max Sciandri as DS, will be confirmed in due time.
