Ladies Tour of Norway (st. 2)

Frenchwoman from Movistar Team makes final effort after trying to lead Sheyla Gutiérrez out into sprint; Spaniard boxed in as Marianne Vos (CCC) wins with prodigious attack.

It was a majestic victory from former Olympic and World Champion Marianne Vos (CCC) on stage two of the 2019 Ladies Tour of Norway, a 133km loop from Mysen to a lumpy final circuit in Askim, whose three climbs of a tough slope helped the Dutchwoman launch an astonishing attack to victory.

The Movistar Team rode again with great order –González, Patiño, García and Oyarbide supporting Sheyla Gutiérrez and Aude Biannic before the final circuit-, yet despite both Blue GC hopes staying well positioned at the climbs before the finish, Gutiérrez was boxed in just over 1km prior to the finish while Biannic tried to led her out to contest the victory. Aude eventually had to seek for her own chance, taking 8th into a group just few meters short to bring Vos back. Biannic now sits in 7th overall, with Gutiérrez in 10th.

The Norwegian race will tackle its Queen stage on Saturday -125km from Moss to Halden-, with the two final, decisive climbs (1.3km at 7.3% avg.) to the Fredriksten Fortress.
