Renovación de contrato

35-year-old veteran from Navarra, one of the most respected domestiques in the peloton with 15 seasons of experience into a sole pro team, will remain linked to Eusebio Unzué's structure at least through the end of 2021.

The Movistar Team announced Wednesday, as the 2019 Vuelta a España enters Navarra during stage 11 of the race, that Imanol Erviti (Pamplona, ESP; 1983) has signed a new contract with the organisation managed by Eusebio Unzué, his only team as a pro, and will continue to wear the Blue jersey for the next two years, at least through the end of the 2021 season.

Erviti is a symbol of the Abarca Sports structure, a team he’s been linked to without any interruptions since his pro debut in 2005. During those fifteen seasons -that will be 17 with his new contract-, Imanol has been, above all, an invaluable support for his team leaders, which he has escorted through 10 Tours de France consecutively since 2010, plus 12 appearances, 2019 included, in the Vuelta a España, a race which has seen him raising his arms victorious twice in 2008 (Las Rozas) and 2010 (Vilanova i la Geltrú).

The sporting and human quality of this excellent rouleur -top-ten finisher in both the Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix- and team rider will remain to be enjoyed by the Movistar Team, which has in Erviti and indefatigable colleague and friend Alejandro Valverde the longest-standing members of its 2020 structure: fifteen years together.
