Event at Madrid's Distrito Telefónica

Telefónica-backed squad to open its new era, with more than a dozen new names, with its traditional event at Madrid's Telefónica's headquarters, the company celebrating ten years of title sponsorship of Abarca Sports' teams.

The Movistar Team announced Thursday the date for its 2020 season launch, the tenth held under Telefónica‘s title sponsorship. The event will take place, as in every season since 2011, at the Auditorium of the company’s global headquarters in Madrid, on Thursday 19th December, at 11am local.

The women’s and men’s rosters from the Blue outfit, which will unveil its new Alé kit at the event, presented in Madrid will include its new faces for next season, 12 of those already confirmed for the men’s team plus three signings for the women’s team.

The event will act as kick-off for a 2020 season which will start for the men on January 19th, with the criterium prior to the Australian Tour Down Under, traditional opener for the UCI WorldTour. The women, still pending a confirmation of its WWT license for next year, are expected to start their scheduled on February 9th, at the Vuelta CV Féminas in Valencia, Spain.
