Competition starts on Zwift

Huge international participation at Sunday's preliminary round, competing for 20 spots in the main rounds to aim for a place in the Movistar E-Team roster.

The Movistar Team Challenge officially started on Wednesday with the Community Qualifiers, the preliminary round – open to the whole Zwift user base – that opens five weeks of competition seeking for the 10 inaugural members of the Movistar E-Team, the first ever esports squad created by a UCI WorldTour / Women’s WorldTour-licensed organisation.

Nearly 3,500 people signed up for the four races -men and women, competing at ‘European’ (7pm GMT) and ‘American’ (7pm EST) slots, the ones Zwift users are usually most present at-, with 20 invitations up for grabs (the best five riders at each events) to enter the main rounds. The competition will continue next week (February 10th / 12th) with the Invitational Races, where riders preselected by Zwift will compete against the top community athletes.

Before joining the first round of the Movistar Team Challenge, those riders qualified by their results in the Community races will be subject to verification of their performance from ZADA, Zwift’s Accuracy and Data Analysis unit. It will take a couple of days before the list of men and women advancing to the next round will be confirmed.
