Plasencia-born rider selected through 'Movistar eTeam Why Not? Challenge by PETA-Z', will represent Blues' home country at first esports / virtual cycling squad by a UCI Women's WorldTour-licensed organisation.

The Movistar eTeam announced Thursday that Ana Dillana (Plasencia, ESP; 1985) will be the rider selected for its esports / virtual cycling squad through its collaboration with the main Spanish-speaking community on Zwift, PETA-Z, and its ‘Why Not? Challenge’.

The Extremadura native, who lives in Barcelona, is the last member to join the 2021 roster of the first indoor cycling initiative supported by a UCI Women’s WorldTour-licensed organisation. The four other riders selected, via the Movistar Team Challenge, are Steph Clutterbuck (GBR), Becky Storrie (IOM), Beth Maciver (SCO) and Imogen Cotter (IRL).

A specialist in Business Intelligence and Data Science, Dillana took part in 2020 at the Spanish road race and ITT Championships, sharing peloton with the road pros of the organisation she now belongs to. It was Dillana’s first elite season in cycling, having previously competed at triathlon and Gran Fondos (she completed an edition of the Titan Desert).

“The news still feel surreal after a night’s sleep”, says Dillana, really emotional after her signing. “I’m so happy to be a member of this team. I think opportunities like this only happen once in life, and I want to take advantage from it to its fullest, do my best and enjoy with my team-mates. I’d like to thank PETA-Z and Movistar eTeam for their help; also all of my friends, whom I got together yesterday on a video for my ‘candidacy’; and above all, my family, which is the most important thing in life for me.”
