Movistar Team and CORE renew their collaboration agreement for 2023

Technical partnership extended

Movistar Team riders will use CORE sensors during their training and racing to prevent loss of performance when their core body temperature rises.

CORE’s collaboration with Movistar Team started two years ago, and we are pleased to continue to provide our expertise in thermoregulation. In 2023 Movistar Team will incorporate into their training two new metrics recently developed by CORE: the Heat Strain Index and the Heat Strain Score. Both measure how hard the body is working to dissipate the internal heat generated by intense physical effort. These metrics will help riders and coaches of the Movistar Team create better protocols for heat conditioning, cooldown before and during a race, and temperature-based pacing.

Movistar Team Head of Performance, Patxi Vila, had this to say about the partnership: “Nowadays, riders are so at the limit that we need to control every single parameter on them. One of the most important is the core temperarture and thanks to the technolgy developed by CORE, we can have valuable, immediate, and useful info that helps us to make good decisions.

CORE’s Product Manager, Chris Blomfield-Brown, states: “We’ve been working with Movistar Team and Patxi Vila for two years now, as well as with other riders on the team, and we have always seen positive results. Extending our collaboration agreement was the natural option, and we are delighted to continue working with the team. Our objective is providing our technology, data, and expertise, so that every racer can give their maximum effort under any circumstance”.
