
€3,500 contribution by event organisers to support Telefónica-backed squad's initiatives to leave a planet better than the one our generation got
The Movistar Team’s continuous sustainability efforts over the last few years have not gone unnoticed. The squad sponsored by Telefónica has just been announced as the outfit receiving the Tour de Suisse’s 2024 climate protection prize, which includes a €3,500 contribution to a charity of their choice.
The Movistar Team, which will carry light blue bibnumbers for the duration of the eight-stage TdS, has always been a reference in eco projects in recent times.
Measuring their carbon footprint in 2019 and making multiple efforts to reduce it, such as solar panels at their headquarters and 1,000 trees planted in their home region Navarra, recognitions have arrived aplenty, including the official Seal from Spain’s Ministry for Ecological Transition and distinction from the Union Cycliste Internationale as a precursor in their fight against climate change.

Enric Mas is expected to lead the Blues’ charge at the 2024 Tour de Suisse, which starts in Vaduz on Sunday, June 9th.
