GP Vårgårda
145.3 Kilometers
Small changes for a very characteristic road race in Vårgårda, its 145km still containing eight gravel road sections – some of them inside a new, challenging final circuit.
The three passages through the Landa sector (3km in length) at the final loop will be preceded by another five sections, longer and hillier, early in the race. These are not, however, stretches of roughness comparable to the French cobblestones, even if the chances of a flat tire or a crash are increased.
The two final loops will contain six climbs of the Hägrungabacken hill, 1km at around 4%. An added difficulty for the sprinters and rouleurs to a race always wide open, coming less than 24 hours after an important effort in the TTT which opens the weekend’s racing in southwest Sweden.
