Ronde van Vlaanderen
158.1 Kilometers
The Movistar Team is back to a race which brought them big joy in 2018, and one where they hope to turn things around to a classics season where results haven’t matched the courage and bond they’ve showed for the last few weeks. One of the longest events in the 2019 season with its 157 kilometers, ‘De Ronde’ is divided in its women’s parcours into two halves: an early part with stress, attacks and tight gaps and a brutal finale, with no room for respite, perfect from big moves from the most prestigious names in the sport.
The opening 85km up to the top of the Kapelmuur contain four cobbled sectors and five very well-known climbs, such as the Leberg (64km), the Berendries (68km) and the Tenbosse (75km). From Geraardsbergen, the race heads westbound to take on the Taaienberg (118km; biggest addition in this year’s route), the Kruisberg (132km) and the combined Oude Kwaremont (141km) / Paterberg (144km), climbed only once in the women’s RVV yet with hard terrain enough before that to become as destructive and decisive as in the men’s event.
